The fuel filter on the INFINITI FX35 is a part of the fuel pump. In most cases the fuel pump is along the underside of the vehicle, attached to the fuELRail. Getting to it is quite simple, as it is only held in place by a couple of bolts, and these are easy enough to remove. The replacement cost can vary and is between 200 and 800 on average. In some cases however You will find the filter and pump are an internal part of the gas tank. If this is the case then You will need to get a new gas tank to replace the pump, but there will be external access to put a new filter in. Prices for this are about the same, maybe a few hundred more than just the pump. If the pump is failing then You will notice that You have trouble accelerating, as You are not getting enough gas. In some cases You wont be able to start the car at all.

So does it mean that if I want to change the fuel fiter I need to change the entire fule pump? I am using bioethanol on my FX35, it has 170K miles and has difficulty to start during winter time. So I might consider changing the fuel filter...

The fuel filter in your INFINITI FX35 is located in the fule pump in your vehicle's fuel tank and is considered maintenance free.

Hold up now...pump the brakes folks. First off, the 2008 Infiniti FX35 has no proper fuel filter. Only the sock on the distal side of the pump, which is in the tank. One can replace the filter sock, or the pump, which usually comes with a new sock without replacing the tank. Tank replacement would be a relatively huge undertaking on this car, considering all that needs to be done is to remove the rear seat bottom (two release buttons on the forward lower edge of the seat bottom), the access cover (thank you Infiniti engineers, sincerely!), and then the retainer ring that holds the pump\fuel level sender assembly on the tank itself. Even with little automotive mechanical experience, with YouTube's help and a couple hours' time, anyone should be able to do this repair
