If Your Chevrolet Aveo is having RPM problems, one of the most likely culprits could be the idle control valve. Across cars, the general engine idle speed is somewhere between 500 to 1000, and for medium to heavy duty trucks, idle is about 600. Idle speed is controlled by the throttle body working together with the powertrain control module. Some common things to inspect are faulty fuses in any of the electronically controlled systems in the car. If one blows, it could cause an idle control valve to malfunction. Something else to check is the idle control valve itself, because it could be faulty, usually caused by carbon buildup inside of the intake manifold. Check for a vacuum leak - one will cause a high idle due to the oxygen sensor detecting lean operation, and the engine computer will try to make up for it, which is what causes higher idle. Throttle malfunction and computer malfunction are also possible causes.
