The two hook thread size on a Mazda3 is M18 X2.50. This is a specialized size and You will need to contact Mazda in order to buy the correct tow hook if You need a new one for Your car. It is a good idea to have a hook with You when You drive in case You get stuck somewhere and need to be pulled out. The tow hook location on the front bumper of Your car is also a good place to install a front license plate bracket. There are third party companies that make brackets that are designed to screw into this location. When You use one of those You do not have to put holes in Your front bumper to install a license plate.

My 2016 Mazda 3 (Mexican built) is 20 x 2.5 Mm thread. A 20 x 2.5 Mm tap fits in the hole front and rear. The front (single) hole is recessed about 6.5", the rear holes are recessed about 3" depth.
