The exhaust back pressure sensor in a Mercedes Sprinter is located at the back of the engine near the firewall to the right of the turbo. It uses a potentiometer that alters the voltage read by the CDI control unit as the exhaust back pressure changes. If You experience a lack of power, slow acceleration, no throttle response or are s**k in limp mode, it could be bad. To change it out, You'll need a 27mm deep well socket, a ratchet and of course a new sensor, it'll cost around $75 depending on where You purchase it. To change it, disconnect the electrical connector and put the socket over the sensor and rotate it counter clockwise. Remove it and install the new one, be careful not the cross thread it, get it hand tight then give it another quarter turn.
