The 2017 Mitsubishi Lancer uses SAE 0W-20 motor oil and Mitsubishi recommends that You use full synthetic oil when it is time to change it. In general synthetic oil will give You greater protection for the moving components in Your engine. Oil comes in two main varieties, synthetic and conventional. Synthetic is engineered to last longer and provide greater lubrication for Your engine compared to conventional which is petroleum based. Usually with synthetic oil You can go 7,500 miles between oil changes compared to the standard 3,500 to 5,000 miles with conventional. Always be sure to check Your oil levels at least once a month and make sure to note if there is any debris or signs of the oil burning that could be a problem with internal components.
