The type of power steering fluid that is used in the 2012 Mitsubishi Eclipse is CHF 11S hydraulic fluid. The capacity for the vehicle is 2 quarts of fluid. Power steering fluid is used to transfer power to the steering system and to help turn the wheels more easily. You should change the fluid every 30,000 to 60,000 miles or so. You'll know to change it when it is harder to turn the wheels or You hear a whining or squealing noise when the wheels turn. The cost for the fluid is around $4 to $10 per quart depending on the store. To change the fluid in the Eclipse it will take anywhere from 10 to 20 minutes, depending on Your experience with doing it.
