Replacing the timing chain on a Chevy Equinox will wind up costing You $900 to $1150 depending on the local labor rates in Your area. The vast majority of this cost is in the labor. The actual cost of the chain itself is usually $50 to $150 depending on the parts supplier. Changing the timing chain is a very complex procedure and it is difficult to get to in the engine bay. That means that it can take oveR8 hours of labor for one mechanic to do it and that is where the high labor costs come from. It is best to have a professional change it though because they will need to confirm the timing is right on Your engine.
