Great vehicle, love the volume controls on the steering wheel.
No problems, love the heat and air condition seats. Heated steering wheel is nice in the winter. Great driving car, 2.0 t really gets up and goes. Great car with great features that really allow you to enjoy driving safely, hands free calling and volume controls on the steering wheel are great! Love Chevy!

I love the way it drives it's always smooth and comfortable.
My beautiful equinox is a perfect car for everyone! Plenty of room for groceries and children and extra riders. It's a great looking SUV. Everyone stops to look at it. The seats fold down for extra large loads my mom always had and equinox too and she loved it.

The 2020 equinox lt, the year gm outdid itself!
This is the 3rd equinox lt we have leased and it by far surpasses any of our former ones. It has the best stability of any car I have ever driven and the features of the lt model are worth every penny. The equinox lt has always been a reliable model but this year, 2020, comfort is superior!

First new vehicle since 2005. Electronics are amazing, especially backup camera.
I have owned this vehicle since march, but have parked it in the garage most of the time due to state shutdown. Has less than 1200 miles, but love the ride and pickup to merge on the interstate. Due to low mileage, I have not encountered any major repairs, but have some questions about the transmission at times when accelerating from a stop such as a light.

I do not have any vehicle problems. I bought it brand new and I love it. It is a 2020 equinox in white and has many features. It is a nice SUV midsize and has Bluetooth and also has apple carplay. It makes a great mom car or for someone who is just looking to drive something bigger than a car but not too big like the size of a suburban.

2020 Chevrolet equinox: rip off of the century.
The interior materials are cheap and low quality. The fuel pump went out at 1,900 miles. Now, the cv joint broke at 2,700 miles. Do not buy the Chevrolet equinox. It is a piece of junk that costs you way too much money for very few features. Save yourself the grief.

DONT BUY THE EQUINOX!
Since the day we purchased this vehicle it has been nothing but a problem. Within one year of purchase we have replaced the transmission twice, the muffler sounds like it is not even there, constant lights on the dash, and now the front end shakes when we brake. That is the latest problem. It feels like the front end is going to fall off. The worst part of it all is that Chevy will do nothing about it.This is a horribly built car and the customer service we have received has been even worse. I am very disappointing in GM with the whole experience.

Don't buy very noisy handles poorly
Very disappointed. Have to pay to use an app on your phone to unlock your own car. Transmission slips and bangs. Very noisy won't stay in a straight line it wonders like a drunk driver. Definitely trading out of this and buying a dodge jeep product not worth the 40k i paid for it.

BEWARE!! 2020Equinox leaking transmission
My 2020 Equinox LT that cost $32,000 with 500 miles is leaking transmission fluid. First I was told it was a seal. Then they found something "POROUS" and are replacing the transmission. I have lost all confidence in this car. The lemon law is in the dealers favor. I would never have purchased this car if I knew it was assembled in Mexico. BEWARE Transmission problems 500 miles on car!!!
My $32,000 2020 Equinox with 500 miles is leaking transmission fluid. First they said it was the seal. Then I was told they found the pan "POROUS" and are replacing the transmission. Very upsetting to spend $32,000 on car to have all these problems. I wish GM would stand by their products. Not sure if only the cars assembled in Mexico are having these problems.

Several expensive repairs
After just under 100,000K the engine needed $1100 worth of work. Two weeks after the work was done l was told the engine had to be replaced. I will never by another Chevy product again.

What Do Critics Say About the Chevy Equinox?

  • Consumer Reports says the 2020 Chevrolet Equinox offers a lot of high-tech features with average owner satisfaction scores.
  • Edmunds rates the Equinox at 4/5, praising the smooth suspension, but doesn’t like the basic interior materials on the entry-level models.
  • Kelley Blue Book users give the Equinox a 3.9/5, enjoying the advanced safety features, but owners don’t like the weak 1.5-liter engine.

What Common Problems Does the 2020 Chevrolet Equinox Have?

Common problems found on the 2020 Chevrolet Equinox include the engine stalling while driving, water leaking into the cabin, along with the service brake assist light turning on. Overall, these problems are slightly worse than other compact SUVs, although repair costs are reasonable.

The engine stalling while driving is the most widespread complaint on the 2020 Chevy Equinox in the first 20,000 miles. The most common source of the problem is a broken spark plug. There’s a technical service bulletin issued by GM for the spark plugs in some models breaking, which causes the engine to stall. Replacing the spark plugs costs about $300, depending on local labor rates.

Water leaking into the cabin is another problem mentioned by 2020 Equinox owners in the first 1,000 miles. Usually the problem is caused by a clogged or disconnected drain line from the sunroof. Cleaning out or reconnecting the line is usually covered under warranty when the SUV is new, although out of warranty it’s around $100 to fix.

The service brake assist light turning on also shows up on some 2020 Chevy Equinox models in the first 5,000 miles. Owners report a pinched wire on the wiring harness to the brake sensors. Repairing the wire costs around $50, depending on local shop rates.

There are three recalls on the 2020 Chevy Equinox, which is similar to other SUVs from the same year. The most serious recall covers missing bolts on the start/stop accumulator. Chevy will install new bolts for free on affected models. Other recalls cover a fuel tank seam and brake calipers, although they only affect a small subset of models on the road

How Long Will the 2020 Chevrolet Equinox Last?

A well-maintained 2020 Chevy Equinox can last around 200,000 miles, which is around 100,000 miles less than the long-lasting Toyota RAV4. Regular annual maintenance costs are higher than other compact SUVs, according to data provided by Repair Pal, at $507 per year.

As a used 2020 Chevy Equinox reaches 100,000 miles, and depending on the vehicle history, owners should be prepared to replace the A/C compressor for $900, heater hose costing $400, along with the transfer case output shaft oil seal which costs $475.

accountCircle Brooke H

It is been reliable for me thus far. The only thing I haven't exactly figured out is the gas pumping. It does not seem to stop all the way when the tank is full.

accountCircle Angela V

It is very reliable and economical. I am very pleased with my choice. It is easy to park and easy to drive, seeing how it is a smart vehicle.

accountCircle William O

I have had no major problems. However, I had a faulty motor controlling the rear windshield wiper. It continuously drew power from the battery and eventually drained the battery. Quick fix at the dealer.

How Is the Technology?

Entertainment technology is great with a standard 7-inch touchscreen stereo system which has Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity. Optional upgrades include a larger 8-inch touchscreen along with a more powerful Bose stereo system.

Safety technology is also excellent, offering standard features including:

  • Lane keep assist
  • Teen driver mode
  • Following distance indicator
  • Automatic emergency braking
  • Rearview camera
  • Lane departure warning
  • Automatic high-beam headlights
  • Forward collision warning
  • Pedestrian detection

Optional driver assistance features include:

  • Blind spot monitoring
  • Surround-view parking camera system
  • Adaptive cruise control
  • Rear parking sensors
  • Safety alert seat
  • Rear cross traffic alert
  • Lane change alert

Is the 2020 Chevrolet Equinox a Good Value?

Yes, the 2020 Chevy Equinox is a good value since it’s cheaper than a lot of other small SUVs on the market with no widespread issues. The blue book fair purchase price ranges from $19,675 to $30,998, making it less than a Honda CR-V or Mazda CX-5. When new, the price range was $23,800 to $35,700. Depreciation is similar to other SUVs losing about 7% of its current value per year.

What are the Different Models of the Chevy Equinox?

What Colors Does the Chevy Equinox Come In?

How Comfortable Is the Chevy Equinox?

The 2020 Chevy Equinox is a delightful blend of comfort and function, ensuring a pleasurable driving experience for both the driver and passengers alike. The cabin design showcases a keen attention to detail, featuring nice materials and a layout that prioritizes ergonomics.

Seating offers ample legroom and headroom, accommodating up to five passengers with ease, while the available power-adjustable driver’s seat and lumbar support cater to individual comfort preferences.

How Much Storage Space Does the Chevy Equinox Have?

Regarding storage space, the 2020 Chevy Equinox is good, boasting a decent cargo capacity that caters to a wide range of needs. Behind the second row of seats, you’ll discover a spacious 29.9 cubic feet – perfect for stowing luggage, groceries, or other everyday essentials.

With the 60/40-split rear seats folded down, the available cargo area expands dramatically to an impressive 63.9 cubic feet. This transformation provides ample room for larger items, such as sporting equipment or furniture, making it a versatile choice for road trips and moving days alike.

What Are the Differences Between Years?

The third generation of the Chevy Equinox came out for the 2018 model year.

2015: 4G LTE WiFi hotspot available, new L model introduced.

2016: Cloth upholstery upgraded, small front-end styling changes, new 7-inch touchscreen and rearview camera standard across the lineup.

2017: LTZ model renamed to Premier model, LT model has an optional sport package.

2018: Fully redesigned for the third generation with new engines, styling, and technology.

How Does the Chevy Equinox Compare to the Competition?

The 2020 Chevy Equinox is simply an average small SUV since there are more complaints than some of the competition, although it does have good technology for the price.

The Ford Escape is another competitor, which is available for around $1,500 more. Where the Ford Escape stands out is with more efficient engine choices, while the Chevy Equinox has more passenger room. We recommend the Ford Escape since the ownership costs are lower, although both are very similar to each other.

The Nissan Rogue is another small SUV which can be found in the same price range. Standard technology is better in the Nissan Rogue, while the Chevy Equinox is a bit roomier in the rear seats. We recommend the Nissan Rogue since there are fewer issues reported, although both are decent choices for the 2020 model year.

Oil Consumption
I took my 2020 Equinox to the service department. Because the car was losing power, excesses oil lost. Equinox has a history of having problems with the Oil Consumption. Now i have a problem with oil in the engine. And instead of them fixing the problem, they want to pay out pocket to buy a new engine, Of course the car is being finance, so what do you do. I can't afford a new engine continued paying for this car. If there is a history will excess oil problem they should fix it.

Equinox the best Chevy for you!
The Chevrolet equinox is a a great crossover SUV. It is the right size for a single person or an elderly couple. It has front wheel drive and you can get an all time four wheel drive if you live in an area of the country that gets inclimate weather where four wheel drive is useful. The back is very roomy and easy to put the back seats down to fit larger cargo. The four cylinder engine is great! Lots of pick up when you need it and great gas mileage for a vehicle of this type.

Perfect for transporting dogs of all sizes!
I have had my equinox for one month, and have had no mechanical issues to date. I enjoy the remote start and push-button hatchback lift/close. My equinox came with mats that cover the back of the back seats and the entirety of the 'trunk' space, which is ideal with a dog. The back seats lay nearly flat, which is also great with the dog. The seats are easy to clean and comfortable on long rides.

I enjoy the speed and reliability of this car. The trunk is spacious, but the seating room is a little tight for my family of 5. The lane assist makes me feel like I am swerving all over the road. Why I miss my old equinox.
Ok this new equinox does not have the same fast pick up like the older ones. The inside is way smaller and the seats are super uncomfortable. The other thing I do t like is there is no large center console. It is just way too small, compared to the older models. The lights in the interior could have been better placed and better lighting.

This is the 2nd equinox we have owned in a row. The 2020 lt2 really is a beautiful vehicle. It came with almost every amenity you could want. All the safety alerts and advisements. Also carpet protection. The only problem I have with it, is the requirement to use premium gasoline. I did not notice any such requirement until I went to fill the tank. Chevy equinox 2020: one of the most amazing vehicles.
I really enjoy my vehicle. It is a great family vehicle and has enough space for long drives. I have family close to me and I have family that lives up to two hours away and it makes the car rides to see them a pleasurable experience. The safety features or just a bonus. My husband and I are planning to have children sometime in the near future and I feel like it is the type of vehicle I would want to transport them around in. I have to drive quite frequently for work and honestly I do not mind hopping behind the wheel.

Great car with exceptional terrain.
Drives great. Sounds great. Mileage is okay. Seats are comfortable. Could use a bigger trunk. Seats kind of have a dip pocket. Collision alert. Alerts when hands are off steering wheel for too long. Screen could be a bit bigger. I wish all had a charging dock station. Rubber floor mats are great. Cup holders are deep.

Simple. Just the right package of features without all the bells and whistles.
It is a very reliable car. Good gas mileage. Comfortable. Stylish. Smooth ride. Roomy. Lots of cargo area. Plenty of safety features: automatic bright lights, collision warning, stay in your lane warning. No Sirius XM. Excellent floor mats for all kinds of weather.

Just have to check out yourself.
My equinox is white, cloth seats, power windows, power steering, power locks. Do not like the trunk space not enough. I like the different options, it rides well. I do not like there is not a third row. It has a good turning radius. Check out it for yourself. You might like it or not.

Best decision I have ever made.
I love this vehicle more than anything I have driven before. I haven't had any issues with it so far. I 100% intend to purchase this vehicle at the end of my lease. The gas mileage is amazing, and the backup camera so helpful. I have even been able to haul a small trailer.

Amazing car! Get one!! I promise you will not regret it.
Amazing car, it is super reliable and smart! It is going on gas too. This car is brand new and it is clean and fresh, it is comfortable and I can drive to a different state without my back having problems because of the comfort of the seat, I do not have to stop at the gas station too many times because it is good on gas.

Perfect car for people with kids.
No problems so far, performance amazing very smooth ride. Haven't had to pay for or do any service to it myself. Extremely comfortable. Taken it on a 4 hr road trip very comfortable the whole way. Love all the safety features. Perfect for people with young children.

2020 Chevy equinox ls - a step above the normal base model.
The 2020 Chevy equinox is a step above previous years. The crossover is roomy, comfortable and sporty. The trunk is a decent size and it is great on gas. Drives like a car and is easy to park. No blind spots like the previous body style. The ls has a backup camera and front sensors if you get too close to the car in front of you.

Backup camera,. Brake, assist.
It's alright. Could drive smoother. Too new to know how reliable. Some features are too difficult to figure it out like how to turn off the interior lights for a drive in movie. Rear camera is cool. Fold down seats and the mats that it came with are nice. Wish the front passenger seat had an arm rest.

Great car, great gas mileage.
It is a great SUV. Lots of room for passengers and more. I haul dj equipment as well and it is a nice fit. Great gas mileage for an SUV. My only complaint is the back hatch if you are hauling bigger equipment the design curve limits the actual with of storing items.

Safe and stylish vehicle.
Very quiet, reliable, easy to drive with many safety features. Love the backup camera and lane departure warnings. Seats are very comfortable, great visibility and gas mileage. Huge trunk/rear area works well on trips. OnStar is excellent. No worries with this vehicle.

Very spacious, great gas mileage, very sharp looking, and overall a great car.
Great gas mileage takes me about $25 a week to fill it up. Smooth ride, turbo sounds great, speed is great. Haven't had any problems since I bought it in early 2020. Love the moon sunroof it is so awesome. Has 180 degree tilt steering wheel to adjust to your needs.

202 equinox - best in class!
2020 equinox is a solid small SUV. I have the 2 wheel drive that you can change to four wheel drive with a push of a button. New technology in this vehicle assists the driver in many ways. The lane departure feature warns you if you stray over the lane markers. I like the feature in the side mirrors that tell you if there is a vehicle in your blind spot alongside of you. The cabin air is controlled by setting the temp and leaving it alone through all seasons, winter, spring, summer and fall. The cargo area has been upgraded to let you simply pull two levers at the back of the vehicle to let the rear seat down for those large loads. My wife especially likes the automatic hatch opener and closer. I do have to admit it takes some getting used to the keyless start and door entry. But once you get the hang of it, it is great not to have to fumble for keys.

2020 basic make of Chevy equinox.
I just got upgraded my vehicle to the new 2020 equinox. I really like that it has ac in the back and the rear cameras come in hand when backing out. Its taking me a little bit to get used to the car kind of of shutting off at stop lights, but this is to save fuel. The seats are very comfortable even the back ones and it has lots of storage space. I am really happy with it.

Equinox: an approachable alternative to a sedan.
The Chevrolet equinox is a dependable, mid range car. This car is suitable for someone who is looking for more space and luxury than a typical sedan, but without the big price tag. It can come with many add on features, but the standard features included in the car are good as well. The only drawback is that Chevrolet has yet to make a decent trunk net system for this model, so your groceries tend to fly everywhere. Other than that, this car is a great use of the footprint it makes, which is no longer than a typical sedan.
