The error code u1040 for a Chevy vehicle means that Your vehicle has lost connection with the electronic brake control module. This could be the result of a bad sensor or it could mean that the brake system has gone bad itself. I would suggest takeng this in to Your local dealership if You're still under warranty so that they can inspect it. If You don't have Your vehicle under warranty then takeng it in to a shop will be the next best choice but it could become costly.

I have tried every way that you guys have posted to reset the anti theft on my 2007 Chevy Cobalt LS 2.2 L I've done in 30 minutes 5 Seconds off 3 times ran it for 30 minutes straight held down the two buttons on the steering wheel to reset it and also even tried to bypass the wires or cut the yellow wire what else could be the problem that I'm missing ran fine just locked up one day

Check the frame ground for the EBCU, usually a ring wire ground to the frame loses contact takeoff the ring wire scrape up the frame to bear metal and reconnect, if it fixes it spray with some undercoating over the ground ring connection
