The VW tiguan 2 0 tdi timing belt change interval is every 80,000 miles. You will come into many problems with an engine. There could be excessive oil use, requiring the oil to be replaced sooner than expected. A really serious problem is the engine overheating. This may lead to fires and the car exploding. A gasket may be loose and that needs to be tightened up quickly. A spark plug may pop off, causing engine trouble. You can have oil leaks and those need to be fixed as soon as possible. The coolant needs to be changed every 60,000 miles. The spark plugs need to be changed every 100,000 miles unless it's a copper one. A cooper spark plug needs to be changed every 30,000 miles. Your air filter needs to be changed every 15,000 to 30,000 miles.

Please do not rely on any mechanical information coming from James B. This person is incorrect in pretty much every piece off “information” contained in his reply. He clearly has no mechanical knowledge or experience. An old timing belt will not lead to to excessive oil usage, unless the the belt breaks which may lead to valve to valve or piston contact, at which point the car is inoperable. An old timing belt will not cause the car to overheat or explode. Gaskets do not come loose and similarly, they cannot be tightened. As Nick says, there are no spark plugs in a VW TDI engine. Please refrain from providing mechanical advice.

You should plan on changing the VW Tiguan 2.0's timing belt every 80,000 miles.

My 2018 tiguan allspace cambelt shredded after 44000 miles Manufacturer´s recommendation are 120,000 miles or 5 years This has caused damages to the engine as appears Car regularly serviced by VW dealer& Cambelt was never on the recommeded list! Souldn´t VW take some responsibility for misleading end consumers as to the lifespan and durability of the its fitted Cambelt?
VW Tiguan - I had a fault with my VW Tiguan - the Timing Belt tensioner failed causing the timing belt to slip causing damage inside the engine. VW did not take responsibility, good will was declined. Last year the Electronic Gearbox control was replaced at 50/50 cost but this fault VW did not take responsibility of 50/50 costs. I am now faced with replacing the engine, which I cannot afford,

James B talking rubbish again. Poor stupid advice. The timing belt as in name timed the engine through induction compression power exhaust. If a timing belt breaks on any car it will break valves damaging the cylinder head and usually valve bits into the pistons ceasing the engine. Thing of it this way the lower end of the engine crankshaft is your foot. The cylinder head is your hip. The timing belt is the knee take away or break timing belt and guess what massive cost to fix replacement engine or repair .Spark plugs, oil leaks filters gaskets has nothing to do with the timing belt.
