The Kessy control unit, which controls Your Volkswagen Touareg's immobilizer and keyless entry functionality, is located in the driver's side foot well of the vehicle. You'll find it above the accelerator pedal, adjAccent to the power distribution block. It's a flat black plastic piece, a little larger (yet thinner) than most wallets, with two wiring harnesses plugging directly into it. Once You know what it looks like, it's difficult to miss. If You need to perform a replacement, the good news is that the swap is quite simple, even for an inexperienced automotive enthusiast. However, the cost will really put a dent in Your wallet (perhaps making it thinner than the part itself) -- a new unit will set You back between $500 and $600, while remanufactured units can still cost north of $350.

The kessy module in the VW Touareg is next to the power distribution block, above the gas pedal on the driver's side.
