The 2002 Chevy Cavalier starter is located at the base of the engine block on the driver's side of it. You will find it near where the transmission meets up with the engine block and there are large wires that run to it. If You are starting Your car and hear a clicking or grinding sound coming from the starter then that is usually a sign that there is a problem with it. You will need to make sure that the wiring is tight on it and that the relay to it is functional. The starter motor is a component that can fail though and may need to be replaced in order to get Your vehicle working again.

Both the chevy cavalieri-4andv-6 engines should have the starter on the motor's side at the car's end. It is bolted from the bottom to the block and engages in the bellhousing of the ring gear.
