In the 2004 Chevy Silverado, the PCM or Powertrain Control Module is located in the engine compartment, close to the battery. This is on the passenger area of the engine. The PCM is basically the car's computer, as it controls things like gas and air ratios and delivers fault codes when diagnostics are done. A failed PCM will result in a host of other things having issues. Some of those things that indicate a bad PCM are the car not starting at all, or mIS Firing when being operated. The check engine light will always come on if Your PCM is having problems. As it is a crucial element in the car, if You notice and issues that seem related to its malfunction, then visit Your local mechanic immediately to have it checked out.
