The 2006 Ford F-150 did not come stock with an auxiliary input and You will need to use a third party cable to add an aux port to the back of Your OEM head unit. The AUxButton on Your dash simply allows You to switch the source over to satellite radio or a third party adapter if You have one of those installed. Adding an aux port is fairly easy to do. All You will need to do is remove the dash and radio then connect one of the many third party kits available to the back of it. From there You can route Your aux port to wherever is the most convenient for You and use the auxButton on the dash to select it.

It will be on the driver's side front corner of the tray.
