The starter in a 2006 Ford Fusion is at the top rear point of the engine. You'll need to remove the battery to be able to see it. The starter is a small motor, powered by a battery. It gets the engine of Your car running. Without a properly working starter relay and motor, You wont be able to even back out of a parking space without a jumpstart or tow.One of the symptoms of a bad starter is a clicking noise when You turn the key or push the start button. However, a starter can die without making any sound at all, or it may announce its impending death with whirring and grinding noise, so listen up!

It is concealed from view by the battery and battery tray. You'll need to remove the battery and battery tray to replace them. The connector lies below the battery plate.
