The 2007 Chevrolet Malibu's crankshaft position sensor is going to be behind the starter, right next to the sensor for the oil pressure. To get at it, You'll probably have to remove the starter, at least part of the way out. Also, if You replace the sensor, You'll need to let the ECU relearn optimal performance strategies, which takes a bit of time (a couple of drives). A compatible part for Your vehicle's going to be the BWD - Engine Crankshaft Position Sensor, part no. CSS1686, which runs about $34 from Advance Auto Parts. Replacing is pretty straight-forward; You got one bolt, and the wiring harness pig tail connector to remove, and then it just lifts up, and You can insert the new one in its place.

The crankshaft position sensor is located on the right side of the engine, by the transaxle and the exhaust manifold.
