The 2007 Chevy Malibu power steering assist location is the bottom side of the steering column, above the driver's legs. The power steering fluid needs to be replaced every 75,000 miles. Along with changing fluids, You will hear noises from steering parts. A faulty bearing will make a terrible sound. A loose bearing will become irritable to the ear. Having great steering is key for changing lanes and moving about on the road. You will someday come across some issues though. It could turn to one side. The steering wheel may become stuck. Steering fluid might leak at one point. The steering pump might become loose and that will be disaster for Your vehicle. The strut bearings could become bad. The rack mount could become faulty.
*WARNING* : Jeremy E's answer is WRONG!!! Obviously he doesn't have any automotive knowledge. The 2007 Chevy Malibu has electric power steering assist!! The power steering motor(not pump) is located on the bottom side of the steering column, just above the drivers legs. It does NOT use power steering fluid, therefore it doesn't have a power steering reservoir under the hood. There is also a steering shaft sensor located near the power steering motor. The sensor calculates which way the wheel is being turned and how much force is being applied when doing so, then sends it to the motor. The power steering motor consists of multiple gears which turn in different directions and with different amounts of force based on the signal it receives from the sensor. The purpose of the motor is to make it easier for the driver to turn the wheels while retaining some feel of the road.

The power steering reservoir is located beneath a cap on the right side of the engine labeled power steering.
