The idle air control valve on a 2008 Chevy Silverado is located on the throttle body and it is near the intake manifold. The idle air control valve controls the amount of air that enters the engine while Your vehicle is at idle. The idle control valve will also control Your idle speed of Your engine. That is the speed that Your engine runs at when You are stopped or in park. If You happen to notice that Your vehicle is not running right and stalling while it is at idle You will want to check the valve. Usually when the IAC begins to fail You will get a check engine light on the dash letting You know that components are failing.
