The EGR Vale on Your 2008 Ford Escape is located on top of the engine, towards the rear of the block. It looks like a small round disk, and will have a thin vacuum tube hose attached to the center of it at the top. You'll see another tube made of steel going from the base of it to the exhaust manifold, screwed in on threads to the side of the EGR valve. Replacing is pretty simple. Pop Your hood and locate the EGR valve, and then remove the vacuum line that's going to the top of it. Then, use a wrench to turn the nut on the tube where it meets the EGR valve counterclockwise and pull the tube away from the valve. Now, You'll need to remove two bolts You'll find at the base of the valve. At this point, You should just be able to remove it and the gasket, and replace with new parts.

The egr (exhaust gas recirculation) valve in the 2008 ford escape 2.3L is located at the top of the engine compartment intake manifold, which is near the throttle body. The valve is part of the emissions system and looks similar to a round disk. It has a small vacuum tube connected to the top center of it. A steel tube goes from the valve base to the exhaust manifold.
