The alternator fuse for Your 2009 Chevy Malibu can be found in line on the large red wire that runs to Your battery. This wire is the main charge wire that leads from Your alternator's output stud to the positive terminal on Your battery. The fuse will be located near the starter motor when You trace the wire and is near the firewall. If it happens to blow it is a sign that there most likely is a short in the wiring from the alternator. I would recommend that You use a continuity tester to make sure that it is not grounding out anywhere. The fuse can also blow if there is a bad voltage regulator and Your alternator is putting out excessive voltage or amperage.
