The crankshaft position sensor in a 2010 Chevy Impala is located on the right front side of the engine block near the intake manifold. This sensor is designed to measure where in the rotation cycle the crankshaft is. The information from this sensor is sent to the ECU to tell it when to allow air and fuel to enter the engine, and when to ignite the spark to detonate it. Usually when this is failing You will notice that Your vehicle starts to run rough and You may detect mIS Fires as well. There will also usually be a check engine light that turns on when Your crankshaft position sensor fails since it is not giving any signals to the ECU.

Look on the upper front of the engine block right in front of the intake manifold to locate the camshaft position sensor.
