The 2010 Chevy Malibu transmission control module can be found on the top of the transmission housing. This is a small black box that has wires running to it and that is the computer that controls the actions of Your transmission. If You notice that Your vehicle is delayed when shifting between gears, or it feels like it is hunting for the right gear to be in that is typically a sign of a problem with the TCM. You will need to use a dealership level tool to read the transmission control module for any codes that could let You know about any faults within it. Replacing it can get expensive because it is a computer, but most of the time software can fix it.
