The 2012 Chevy Malibu knock sensor can be found on the left rear side of the engine block. This sensor is used to detect knock in the engine which can happen when there is poor quality fuel or a problem with the fuel delivery. If You have a problem with a knock sensor You will usually notice that Your vehicle will run rougher. It is not there watching the engine and that can make things not work as well. Usually You will get a check engine light at Your dash and a code will be stored in Your ECU to let You know to inspect and replace the sensor.
