The hood sensor on the 2012 Ford Focus is situated right under the hood latch on the passenger side of the vehicle. That's the left side of the hood latch. Many owners have reported that the warning light for an open hood is displayed randomly even though the hood remains closed. This problem is usually caused by a bad contact on the hood latch switch. Make sure to take the vehicle to the dealer if the light doesnt go away on its own. It is highly likely that Your hood latch switch will need to be replaced by the dealership. The average cost for a hood latch switch is around $150 to $160 which also includes the cost of labor, but the prices can vary depending on the place Youre having it checked from.
My 'bonnet open' message keeps displaying on the dashboard even though the bonnet is closed. It even cause the alarm to go off once I have locked the car. Any ideas?
