The o2 sensor in a 2013 Chevy Malibu is located in the exhauSTStream, one before the catalytic converter as well as one in the exhaust manifolds. These sensors are in charge of making sure that the air to fuel mixture in the car is not incorrect. If the car is running rich or lean, then it will not be putting out the right amount of power. This can cause it to stutter or stall in the right climates, and even if it does run it will still not be as efficient as it could be. You will also fail an emissions test if the car is running rich. A sensor is pretty cheap to replace, so if there is an issue it should be fixed right away.
