The ambient air temperature sensor in a 2015 Chevy Impala can be found on the right side of the engine compartment near the horn assembly at the front of it. You will be able to spot it as it is a small piece of black plastic that has wires coming off the bottom of it. The ambient air temperature sensor is used to measure the temperature outside wherever You are at. This is useful fortwo main reasons. The first reason is that You can use the sensor to know the weather outside while You are driving. The second reason is the engine can better calculate the amount of air that is needed to reach ideal compression conditions in the cylinder as colder air is denser than warm air.

Look in the front of the engine bay close to the grill to look at the ambient temperature sensor.
