The Camshaft Position (CMP) sensor consists of a magnet and an iron core which is wrapped with copper wire and is installed onto the cylinder head of a 2011 Toyota Corolla. Camshaft position sensors often needs to be replaced and You will notice rough idling, stalling, a drop in power, and slow acceleration in Your vehicle if they need replacing. Your car won't fail right away if there's a problem with Your camshaft sensor by any means. You can still drive without one, but the overall performance of Your vehicle will degrade over time. A failing camshaft position sensor begins losing its ability to quickly transfer data. Mismatched fuel delivery and ignition timing, even if off by a few milliseconds, will cause Your vehicle to sputter, accelerate poorly, lack power, stall, or even shut off.

This is located near the engine. Hidden in the back of the motor in a housing for sensors.
