The shift solenoid on a Ford F-150 can be found on the passenger side of the transmission. It is located under a cover that has a triangular lock on it and when You get the lock off of it You can just lift the cap off and You will find the solenoid. If You notice that Your truck is shifting rough between gears and having issues with delayed shifts this can be a sign of a problem with the solenoid. They are relatively easy to replace since they can be accessed on Your truck without having to drop the transmission or take it apart completely. This can save You some money on the repair costs for it.

The shift solenoid is located inside the oil valve connected to the valve body.
