The Ford Ranger does not come with a cabin air filter, there is instead a mesh that is in the engine compartment that is designed to protect all the HVAC system. This can be better than a standard paper filter because Your mesh filter does not need to be replaced. The main downside to a mesh filter is that it does not capture the same amount of dust and allergens as a paper filter since the mesh is wider than the paper medium. The screen is there to protect Your vehicle's AC system from damage more than clean the cabin air. You should check Your mesh filter every time You change the oil to make sure that it is free from a buildup of debris.
If itdoesnt have one where is the mesh your talking about located becauseive seen a black carbon type screenthats very small and flemsy behind glove box but definitely isnt preventing much or anything and has to be a way to replace it or clean it

2021 Ranger has a cabin air filter, I just changed mine. A LITTLE BIT d***y 37k miles 14 months in service. Part #XC35518C ECOGARD purchased on AMAZON, took less than 5 minutes and no tools.
You people should do your research. Go to your favorite auto parts store and inquire about a cabin filter for a 2020-2022 Ford Ranger and there will be one. To be more specific, a Wix WP10410 and a Motorcraft FP88.
