The location of the fuel filter on the 2002 Toyota Avalon is on the driver side below the master cylinder and the air filter box. You are able to change the fuel filter without removing any other components, unlike some vehicles where You have to remove a lot of things. The fuel filter prevents dirt and rust particles from entering the fuel and thus prevents damage to it. The fuel filter is a canister-F-TYPEuel filter that needs to be replaced after around 30,000 to 40,000 miles of use. The cost of a new fuel filter for the car is anywhere from $11 to $35 depending on where You get it from. The cost to have it replaced is between $80 and $100 in labor costs and extra for parts.
