The fuel pump relay doesn't exist in the 2001 tacoma. Car parts will eventually become ineffective. The fuel filter needs to be replaced every 30,000 miles. If it doesn't, You will come across issues with the performance. Having the fuel burn greatly is the key to maximizing Your miles per gallon. Your gas tank needs to be in top shape. You will come into issues at some point. A bad control valve might arise. The gas tank could become loose. There could be gas leaks, which need to be looked into pronto. The gas cap can become stuck and will be quite a hassle to deal with.

The 2001 toyota, the fuel pump is powered by the efi relay and the efi fuse, so there isn't specifically a fuel pump relay. You'll find both the efi relay and pump on the inside fuse panel. The efi relay is in the center relay on the bottom row.
