Finding the knock sensor on the 2006 Sienna van is easy to do, and will only take around 5 to 12 minutes of Your time. The firSTStep You should take is going to the front of Your vehicle. Using the hood release, lift it open, and use the prop arm to keep it secure in an upright position. Next, take a look at Your engine block. It should be situated within the bay, next to the intake manifold, and the cylinder head. The knock sensor will be directly on top of one of those three parts. The reason for this is to provide the ability to detect vibrations. If the sensor is bad, it can be replaced for $45 to $139.

Sorry Marie B, but that answer is totally incorrect. The knock sensors on the 2006 Sienna are in the valley between the heads. You have to remove the upper and lower intake manifolds to get to them. It's a half-day job if you're really fast, and much more if you're not.

The knock sensor is situated on the block of the engine, cylinder head or intake manifold. This is because it has the purpose of detecting vibrations induced by knock or detonation of the engine. This signal is used by the pcm to alter the ignition timing and to prevent detonation.
