The 2017 Toyota RAV4's oil filter housing is located in front of the drain pan underneath the vehicle. Look on the passenger's side toward the back of the car and next to the inside fender wall. It can be removed with a special tool available from Toyota/Lexus, and come equipped witH2 O-rings and an drain plug. The Rav4's 2.5 liter 4Cylinder engine is equipped with 4.6 US quarts of 0W-20. Oil and filter changes should be scheduled every 7,500-10,000 miles or 12 months if using fully synthetic lubricants. The advantages of using synthetic vs conventional products include better lubrication among moving parts, a longer interval between service appointments and enhanced effectiveness under adverse weather conditions.
