To deactivate the Toyota RAV4's anti-theft alarm, insert the key manually into the driver's door to unlock or depress the "unlock" button on the transponder. Either approach will successfully reset the anti-theft's alarm. The Rav4's alarm, however, is not activated by a fuse but is managed by the body control module or "BCM" which communicates with the horn and the horn's relay. The anti-theft system on the Rav4 was not designed for reset by the owner. It requires software for a hard reboot that can only be acquired through the dealership. The module must be re-progRammed to disable an security warning and this can only be accomplished by a certified dealer. Having the Anti-Theft Module reset averages under $100.

Removing the alarm fuse in a toyota rav4 disconnects the alarm completely, the fuse is usually in the fuse box in the dashboard by the left knee.
