There are several things that could cause the reverse lights to not work on a 2008 Dodge Ram 1500. The most common will be a blown bulb. To check or replace the reverse bulb You'll have to take the tail light assembly out of its socket, You will need a T25 torxBit and driver. Lower the tailgate down and remove the two torx head screws that hold the assembly to the truck. Next, grab on each side of the taillight assembly and pulled away from the truck. The reverse light is on the bottom of the assembly. Grab the back of the bulb and turn it about 1/4 of a turn counterclockwise and then pull it straight out. Grab the bulb and pull it out of the socket an install the new one.

The brake lights in a 2008 dodge ram 1500 may not work for various reasons such as a damage/burnt out bulb, bad fuse, faulty wiring, or a damaged reverse light switch.
