There was a known issue with the windshield wipers not working on the 2016 Chevy Equinox. General Motors ended up having to issue a recall because this problem was so widespread. The issue is in the wiper's ball joints. They started to come loose and because of this Your wipers would stop working. The models that are covered in this will be models of the 2010 to 2012 and 2014 to 2016 Chevy EquinoxAnd Terrain vehicles. If You are on the latter end of this then You should still be able to take it in to a dealership to have it fixed for free. You should go ahead and call to see if they will help You.

My wipers quit on an expressway! Of course, it was raining, impossible to see and actually life threatening. The dealer replaced the wiper/ transmission unit under warranty. But this problem should have triggered a recall.
If the windshield wipers are not working properly in your 2016 Chevy equinox consider replacing the wires, the timer circuit relay or the switch.
