You're driving Your 2010 Ford Escape through town, when You suddenly realize the oil light is illuminated on Your dashboard. This can be caused by a couple of things. First, and the most usual reason for the sudden appearance of the oil light, is low oil pressure in the engine. You can fix this quickly by performing an oil change or refill, usinG5 quarts of 5w-20 or 5w-30 sae fully synthetic motor oil. You also may be experience wearing down of the engine and its components, or a faulty oil pressure sensor. If the sensor, is bad, it will need to be replaced. This will cost You between $25 and $80 for parts alone.

If the oil light is on when idling, it could be a sign of engine wear, low oil level or a bad oil pressure sensor.
