There are some usual reasons why You might hear a noise when You accelerate in Your Ford Edge, but You're going to need to be more specific on just what type of noise You're hearing. Is it a high pitched whine If so, that's going to be any number of things, usually involving the steering system, belts, or the rear differentials. If it's more of a humming sound, this can actually be something with the evaporation system and fuel components. Then, there's the dreaded rattling sound; this means just what You think it does --- that something's come loose. Regardless of these noises, if You're hearing something You ordinarily haven't before, it's probably time to take it in to a mechanic. Before You do, try to write down as much specific information as You can, regarding which type of sound it is, the general vicinity of the vehicle it's coming from, and what actions precipitate hearing it.

If you hear a noise when accelerating a ford edge, this could be a result of a loose timing belt.
