Creaking noises in the Ford Escape can be caused by faulty suspension or brakes. They can also be a product of low lubricant levels in the power steering if equipped with a non-electric hydraulic pump. If brake pads are worn, squealing and/or grinding may be heard as metal parts rub against one another and create friction. A broken CV joint or rod bearings will generate noise as well. Both ball joints and bushings can wear out over time. Bushings are made of rubber components than can crack and dry out, and joints that lack lubrication will deteriorate. Lastly, examine drive belts for laxity or misalignment. Loose belts can cause squealing and creaking sounds when a vehicle is being turned.

If your ford escape is making a creaking noise when turning it is usually an indicator for a damaged tie rod. However, this can also mean a malfunctioning power steering rack, pump or belt.
