The Ford Focus may be excessively loud as You accelerate due to errors in the emissions system or failing exhaust parts. A loose heat shield is one of the most common reasons an unusual roaring is heard when increasing speed. If an O2 sensor has failed, the mixture of fuel to air in the engine's combustion chamber will be imbalanced, resulting in rough idle and acceleration. Faulty spark plugs cause back fires when the pedal hits the gas and increase engine noise as well. When engine or transmission mounts become loose they will vibrate as You increase speed. If more serious problems are at the root of the Focus' operating volume, they may include slipping gears caused by a failing timing belt or transmission.

It is most likely the right front motor mount under the coolant bottle. It is metal on metal as the rubber underneath wears out. $60part. I thought my transmission was going out or the turbo. Nope it’s metal on metal vibrating. You will see

A loud noise when accelerating can be a multitude of things from exhaust problems to engine problems. Hook up a scanner tool and go from there.
