The 2011 Chevy Equinox is known to experience a loss of heat in the cabin due to actuator failure. The blend door actuator manages air flow, direction and temperature within a vehicle's HVAC system. If they fail, drivers typically notice a lack of air from one or all of the vents, the absence of heat and knocking or "tapping" noises from behind the dash. The Equinox is equipped with three actuators. Two are located under the dash and one is installed under the front seat. Cost of replacing one of the Equinox' actuators averages $106-$120 in parts and labor. Other issues that can contribute to a loss of heat in the cabin include a bad thermostat or coolant leaks.

My heater is not working but my blower is just blowing cold aor
My heater works, but only if the selector is in the front window defrost position upon starting the engine.

You certainly did not read my post. I stated that the heat will not work "unless" the selector is in the defrostposition for the front window. My guess is, a bad actuator. Thanks for your response.

If the heat is not working in your 2011 chevy equinox it may be due to a broken motor, faulty thermostat or faulty blower motor resistor.
