As the driver of a 2012 Honda Pilot, You may encounter a situation where You see the check emissions system light has appeared on Your dashboard. There are a couple of things that can cause this to happen. In the vast majority of cases, this light will illuminate when the system has detected something is wrong with one of the oxygen sensors. You may also notice a loss of fuel efficiency, rough idling from the motor, and failure of emissions tests. If the o2 sensor is bad, it will need to be replaced. You can expect to pay between $21 and $40 for a new one. If You choose to have it replaced by a professional, You will need to pay between $30 and $80 for labor.

The 2012 honda pilot check emission system light means that there's an o2 sensor fault.

When filling the tank with gas, there are 3 critical steps: Do not overfill the tank. When the pump nozzle automatically shuts off, stop filling the tank. Leave the nozzle inserted in the fill line. Count to 25 slowly (this is about 25 seconds) before pulling out the gas pump nozzle and completing the fill operation.

The fuel cap is loose enough to allow air to enter and hence the 02 sensor is giving that. Or you have low quality gas ( not the major brands) and that causes the sensor to get d***y. Make sure you hear three clicks after adding gas Buy regular octane at a more expensive brand station ( not Costco or less expensive bulk stations), the error will eventually go away after driving for few miles.
