The Chevrolet RPM gauge or tachometer may not register engine revolutions per minute if the wiring is faulty beneath the gauge or instrument panel. Check for grounding and repair if needed. Other causes include the need for a reset of the clutch switch position. If the Aveo is manual, and the panel has been disturbed for repair or to replace an instrument bulb, the switch will need to be reset. The tachometer is also powered by a fuse that could need replacing. If the fuse is functional, the tachometer may not be receiving signals from the crank sensor or ignition module due to a connection issue. Broken and shorted wires or corroded connectors in between these parts can cause the tachometer too fail.

The key cause of the failure of the RPM gauge In a Chevrolet Aveo is the blown fuse with the tachometer. Test the fuses to make sure they are working properly. Poor wiring may also cause a malfunctioning tachometer or a faulty tachometer relay switch.
