If You hear a clicking noise under the dash of Your Chevy Impala that is most commonly a problem with a component in the HVAC system for the car. It could be a blend door actuator, or the blower motor itself having a problem. There is also a chance that Your air ducts are loose and rattling around which could make a clicking sound. In order to diagnose what the problem is You should see if the sound goes away when You turn off Your HVAC. If it does then it's likely a blower motor problem. If the sound is still there while You drive it is then most likely loose components in the dash bouncing around.

Yes, it is the blender door actuator. I replaced mine a year or so ago and it has started up again. Most likely a broken tooth on the gear. Why the motor is energized when the ignition is off is puzzling?? But, mine clicks on its own initiative; when I open the car door, for instance. Maddening. It stops after 15-20 seconds. It is a bear to change. You must be contortionist to get in there and the placement of the hears and motor is very tricky. Obviously, I didn't do a good job on mine. Misalignment probably caused a gear tooth to break.

The chevy impala clicking noise in the dash is because of a defective actuator or the body control module is starting up.

If it's on the passenger side, it may be the heater door gear [broken teeth on gear] pain in the caboose to replace but is do-able..I did mine.
