There are several reasons why the Chevy Traverse's fan may fail to kick on and cool the engine. If the fan's fuse is blown, it needs replacing. However, in most instances electrical wiring and the fan's wiring harness are at fault and they are the reason the fuse is blown. Changing the fuse will translate to only a temporary fix. You may also need to replace the engine temperature sensor. If the sensor is bad, the Traverse's ECU won't have the information it needs to tell the radiator to switch on. Lastly, low coolant levels can interfere with the fan's operation. If coolant levels aren't high enough to impact the sensor, temperature readings will register lower and fail to engage the radiator.

The radiator fan in your traverse will not kick on. If you have low refrigerant, do not fill it until the engine has cooled off. Adding coolant to a radiator dry enough to not activate the engine temperature sensor can cause problems caused by dramatic changes in temperature. Firstly, let it cool down.
