If Your radio volume is not working in Your GMC Sierra that is usually a sign of a problem with either the head unit, amplifier, or speakers. If You do have volume coming out of the radio then it is most likely a software problem and that can usually be solved by restarting the head unit itself. If there is not any volume coming from the radio then You will want to first try to reset the head unit and if that does not solve it then You will want to check the fuses for the amplifier since they could be damaged. If everything is powering on but You still have no volume then it could be a loose connection at a speaker or a damaged speaker.

The volume is stuck all the way up an I can not lower it how do I reset it
Radio sometimes just won’t produce sound. Looks like it’s on; changing stations, changing channels, raising and lowering volume and turning off and on does not restore sound.Shutting off the truck for a few minutes and restarting sometimes restores radio function. GM installed software download that was supposed to fix problem. Nope! Didn’t work. Hope this doesn’t turn into a fiasco before I can enjoy my new truck.

Check that the radio is Not in mute, then lightly press the volume button again. If it still has no sound, look under settings on the center screen. Still does not restore the sound/volume, take it in to GM.

Well I thought I would give it time in high hopes that it would somehow self correct. No such luck. It works fine for a week or so and then just goes mute. GPS also affected. Went on a 10 hour trip, radio and GPS was self silenced for 6 of the 10 hour trip. Shut off the truck to get lunch, came out,Started truck and all was well. Taking it in August 11. We shall see what’s next. Will keep all posted if they can rectify.
Same issue display shows volume going up but sound level stays the same. I’ve had less issues with Hyundai, Nissan, Mercedes and Lexus. Why can’t we build cars as good?

Just returned from Dealership, was told Gm is aware of the problem and is actively pursuing a solution. All you Chevy and GMC owners be aware that GM is aware of this problem. There is apparently no program fix available at this time. Document all the failures of your radio so you can pursue some sort of satisfactory solution to us owners somewhere down the road. Wonder when the Lemon Law can be applied. Good Luck to all of us. Hopefully they can remedy this soon, I have faith that they will.
This is what I have found to be my issue. When I remote start the truck, and the AC is in the ON position, with the fan at 2 or 3, the radio will not work. If the AC is off when I remote start, there are no issues. Weird, I know. To fix the issue, I need to do these exact steps: Turn off truck, open and close door, wait 5-ish minutes for the system to reset (you can actually hear it), turn truck back on and the radio will play.
Is there a way to unmute the sound ? I play YouTube music off my phone usually but today I had no volume on my phone or in the truck and can't figure out what's wrong. Had sound on my phone back inside the house

My 2019 Sierra both the columns knob and steering knobs will not change the volume. Also my radio will not play. My media iPhone and Android will play music along with navigation apps. I have tried restarting the vehicle. I have tried unplugging the USB device and restarting the vehicle I have gone through my radio settings my phone settings, and no change. Next just checked the fuses, but I don’t think it’s fuses since it works everywhere else.

Carried my 2023 GMC in to dealer to fix radio. Acted like they had never heard of the problem. No resolution from GM dealer.

Here’s the answer, thebattery is dead or almost dead. It’s happened to me twice and both times the battery was bad . It came on after recharging for 30min. And later the battery died. $300 for a 3 yr battery and you gotta remove the cross member to change it and four connectors ! Good luck and God bless you

I have sound coming from my speakers, just the volume know is not working to turn up or down. The volume button behind my steering wheel works to turn up and down. This is my 2015 GMC Sierra SLT.
I have a 2022 gmc denali truck and there is no sound on my radio.. I checked the mute button and it's not muted. Also it has been cutting in and out for the sound for about a week or so, if that helps with the trouble shooting..
