As the driver of a Nissan Sentra, You may be concerned if You are experiencing an issue with Your usb port no longer working as it should be. This can have a couple of different causes. First, You should inspect the wiring to the port. Make sure that there is no wear and tear or damage. Also check to be sure You don't have any loose connections that could be causing the issue. If all is well in the wiring, check the fuse to see if it is blown. If it is, it will need to be replaced. This can cost You between $14 and $34 on average.

I took apart the connector and the usb portion was being pushed inside the connector and losing contact. It seems to have some sort of sliding contact. So when you put the USB stick in, the connector pushes in and loses contact. You can put the USB stick in then pull it out a little to see if the connector follows it or simply pop it apart and get a good look. I used a drop of glue and a small piece of wooden dowel to lock it in place against another part of the connector. Once apart it makes good sense. Or simply buy a USB Female A to USB Mini Female B Adapter and bypass the factory USB port.

Most likely it is the connection of the unit to the underlying connections. One might be loose or it’s just faulty. Use a cloth and flat head screwdriver to release the and check the connection.
