I'm assuming You're not trying to do the thing on Your Nissan X Trail where You swing Your foot under the center of the rear bumper, with Your key FOB in Your pocket, to get it to open. You might try that, just for testing. The typical reason the trunk's not opening on this vehicle, though, is going to be because You've got a dead or dying (too weak to work) battery in Your keyless entry FOB. The solution, then, is to replace this with a compatible 3 volt battery and go about Your business. If You've already tried that, then Your neXTSteps are going to be to check the fuse that operates the latch release for the trunk, check the wiring, and then check the actual button mechanism for failure. Occasionally, if You've not used the trunk for a significant amount of time, rust can actually bind it, in which case Your stand-by friend WD-40 is warranted.

My nissan xtrail 2018 boot stops working when I press the inside button but works when I press the key, now the key too stops working. Can you help me.
I have exactly the same problem, not working from button on the boot or the button at dashboard end but works fine from the keys auto button... Suggestions please? Thanks all

So I had inadvertently turned off the power door switch with my knee or something getting out of the car, turning this back to on seemed to fix this issue for me

If the vehicle’s starter battery is getting low it appears that the Xtrail turns off non-crucial services such as the electronic boot opening system. Giving the car a good run or overnight battery charge will bring it back to normal operation.
Solution for Boot issue. I have x trail 2018, boot would not open except by pressing the button on the boot itself and manually pulling it up. The same for closing. I tried lot of solutions, none worked. I mechanic didn't know. But he forced the boot open all the way up, then closed it all the way down. That did the trick, as it reset the system somehow. After that everything worked perfectly. Try this, it cost nothing.
Can anyone help plz: On my 2018 model The rear door will only open/close with Key!It all happened suddenly I couldnt find any help online!
