Depending on the year of Your Toyota Highlander's radio, there could be some specific issues that only affect newer ones, versus being applicable to all. For example, if You have the infotainment type radio, You might find it starts randomly skipping channels. This is a software issue that needs to be addressed at Your local Toyota dealership. Now, if You've got it that the radio's not coming on at all, the first thing You should check is the vehicle battery; if that's low on charge, You've got more problems than the radio. Next is the radio fuse, which is going to be located in the interior fuse panel. Barring those two things, the other reasons for it not working at all are going to be an issue with the wiring, or a completely failed radio itself.

Similar issue with my 2021 Highlander Hybrid. Screen works for cameras but is non-functional otherwise. Has anyone else had this isssue?

I am having the same issues with my 2012 Highlander. Initially the display would stay dark and not light up. Now the radio will not come on at all. Will check the fuse

My brand new 2021 Highlander Hybrid has been nothing but problems with the radio/GPS unit. Just randomly goes black frequently. Has happened since day 2 owing it. It's has been in and out of Toyota and last week had entire unit replaced. 3 days later entire screen blank again. Today ( 6 days since replacement) it is back in the shop. Top of the line vehicle and can't get it sorted. Dangerous at night if attempting too map, make/answer calls/adjust temperature or radio. Not impressed. Going to go back to driving my 10 year old Mazda and park this soon. That much money and can't get it fixed.
My radio flickering on and off , turns on and off by itself seems Toyota would step up and fix these issues, Toyota not caring about family, dangerous when the gps goes blank , or taking you 5to6 deffrent places, now Toyota has just said they are no longer replacing the radio,and you have to take the Highlander, so they can take the old radio, send it in so they can repair it, taking about 1 to 3 months.
