If the touch screen is not working in a VW Passat then the first thing that You will want to do is make sure to reset the head unit. When the software freezes from time to time that can lead to Your stereo's touch screen not working. Always make sure You have the lateSTSoftware as usually they fix those bugs when they update it. If Your screen is completely off and not working then the next thing to do is check the fuse. This will be located in the passenger side footwell. Make sure that it is not damaged or blown. If that is fine then check the wiring to the back of the head unit to make sure that it is not loose.
